Mkhitar Sebastatsi (real name Manuk) was a scholar, cultural and church figure, the founder of the Mekhitarist Congregation. He was born on February 17, 1676, in the city of Sebastia. 1685-1691 Studied at St. Sebastian Church. Nshan Monastery, where a deacon named Mkhitar was appointed. From an early age, he wanted to establish a religious congregation to meet the spiritual and intellectual needs of the Armenian people. 1717 The Venetian Senate has handed Mkhitar and his associates an indefinite term on St. Lazar Island. Here Mkhitar Sebastatsi built a monastery, church and auxiliary buildings with his drawings. It has been stubborn and consistent in its work to prepare united figures capable of spreading enlightenment to the broader classes of the Armenian people. Mkhitar Sebastatsi is also named after Mkhitar Sebastatsi Educational Complex in Yerevan. The educational complex implements a state-of-the-art alternative (author) educational program, which emphasizes the joint creative work of the learner and the teacher. IT and foreign languages are used since first grade. Student preference is a curriculum-specific activity carried out in a laboratory-professional environment.
